I was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. As a child I loved to draw and was selected to attend the Public School Saturday Art Programs for
gifted children. Throughout my adolescence, I participated in this wonderful program.
Upon graduation from Cheltenham High School, I earned a merit scholarship to the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. My art flourished there and at graduation, I was awarded a "Ware" Traveling Fellowship to study abroad.
I sketched and studied in the great Museums of Madrid, Amsterdam, Florence and Vienna and then spent four months painting and drawing in Greece. I fell in love with the light of Greece.
Returning home, I worked as a portrait artist on the boardwalk in Atlantic City, New Jersey for the summer months to earn enough money to finance my return trip to Greece. For ten months, I painted in Greece and this experience has influenced my sensibilities to this day.
The year after I came back to the U.S., I married and followed a path of domesticity and child rearing. When my children were in school, I worked drawing portraits throughout New England. In this way, I honed my skills and remained active in art while earning extra income. more >
